Trying to introduce my 1949 CJ3A to the forum. I’m not new to the forum, I just enjoy reading more than posting (not tech savvy). Anyway, I learned to drive in this Jeep in 1977. It has been in my family ever since. My interest over the last 20 years has been building/ modifying my 84 CJ7 as the 3A sat and watched from the corner of my shop ...Multi viscosity oils (ie: 10w30) came around when engines started using hydraulic lifters. Standard 30w, usually Valvoline brand, is what I use in most old engines with solid tappets like the flatheads. A different weight oil might be appropriate for places where the temperature may be more extream than in the Southern US.From a distance you cant tell them from the original 600X16 NDT Goodyear military tire. I don't put a lot of miles on my jeep so I cant judge how they ware. I would buy them again to save the money. If you use an M-38 or CJ-3A frame to replace a CJ-2A frame the left motor mount will not line up, but a simple adapter can be used. Early CJ-3A frames and M-38 frames have the tabs for installing bottom mounted radiators like the CJ-2A has.

Pretty sure it also requires pre-loading the diapghram. Both procedures are covered in the M38 TM. As is troubleshooting and measuring the pump for proper pressure and volume. I assume you have the TM.

Mar 21, 2022 · I began installing the Brennans Garage disc brake brackets that came with my '48 2A. I finished up the drivers side this past weekend. It is an easy installation for the front axle, I bought the calipers, rotors, wheel bearings, seals from rock auto. It looks pretty solid, good luck with it! 1986 Jeep CJ7 4.2L I6 T176 (restoration in progress)The maximum efficient RPM for a G0-Devil is the same as the maximum torque output @ 2100 RPM. With standard 29" tall tires the pre 1963 CJ's will optimally cruise at 35 MPH. Not nearly as efficient but I will recommend an absolute maximum sustained RPM of 3100. Water will sit separate and rust things. So if your rig sits outside and condensation forms from temp change, you need to bleed the system more often. I do use single weight non-detergent oils in small air-cooled engines - but I stick with the multivis for all my water-cooled applications.

So keep in mind if you find standard CJ3A seat frames the fronts will bolt into the same holes as the 2A frame. Not so with the M-38 frame.
